Partnership with a new school

The association descends into the bush of Madagascar to expand its educational activities with a new school.

Fanasina School is located in the countryside in the suburbs of Antananarivo. We started a new partnership with this school to deliver book donations to kindergarten and primary classes in June 2018. 

The school already has its own library. We brought them children's storybooks and magazines to ensure the renewal of the library fund. 

100 books of children's stories and magazines 

On this occasion, we offered one hundred books for new children. This action is an opportunity to diversify the books available for the children of the school.

Enriching exchange with teachers for targeted and effective action 

When handing out donations of books, we discussed with teachers the life of the school. The latter has 8 teachers for 8 classes of around 15 to 20 children per class. The school is funded mainly by aids obtained from the temple and from donors. The school fees of the children are symbolic 5000 ariary per student. (for information: 1 euros = about 4 000 ariary)

The children eat at the temple - there is a canteen funded by generous donors. According to the teachers, the budget allocated for the canteen does not provide a sufficiently balanced daily meal for the children. 

In terms of computer equipment and basic school supplies for children and teachers, they drew our attention on the lack of resources and the need to renew them (eg computer and printer down). 

All this information is useful for our association to help improving the school situation and the well-being of children. It is essential to listen to the difficulties encountered on the field by the teachers. Our role is also to verify and challenge the information collected on the spot. 

This approach helps to determine what future actions the association could consider to improve the lives of students. The goal is to give them more chance to succeed at school.

Gifts

We came at the school just before the summer holidays. The children worked well during the school year. We brought them some gifts .... children's books .... to congratulate and encourage them. The children are happy to receive the new collection of story books and magazines for the school library. 

Sweet treats and ... good holidays kids! 

We are delighted with our visit to Fanasina School. Our action is only a drop in the ocean. But we invite everyone to contribute to the well-being and education of children. Finally, we have distributed sweets to children to wish them happy holiday!
